I cannot turn off predicted searches in FF and every time i fire up FF it goes to the search preferences page and i have to save my setting before i can get to the home page, this happens EVERY time. I have done all the cookie stuff, cleared them enabled them, disabled them and re-enabled them, tried every setting i can think of but it always does the same thing and i have to go through the save settings procedure Thank god for Chrome

It could be that Google search is your homepage. You can try to change/delete the unwanted homepages in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > General, beside Home Page: and add a new one. Options > General. If the homepage was added by an extension and is being reset to Google search, you may have to find the add-on in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-on, Extensions (on the left) and either change the settings or Disable / Remove the extension.

If Firefox is stuck in a session restore , you can try to delete the session: type about:sessionrestore in the location (address) bar, hit enter, click Start New Session , restart Firefox again and check.

The predictive search in Google is a Google feature and you may have to go into the Google Search options to turn it off.

It would also be helpful if you could post a screenshot: Add images: > Browse... below Post a Reply on this page.

Hi,

To disable/enable predictive suggestion please see this.

If the problem persists, check if this happens in Safe Mode. You can also use Safe Mode to reset search engines and user settings.

Its the search bar its the home page(google) that gives me the problem, whenever i load firefox i get the search preference page and have to turn off predicted searches and save before i can get to my home page, this happens every time i start FF or even if i press the home button. i have tried the safe mode option but exactly the same thing.

Thanks Vivek for your suggestions but unfortunately they don't sort the issue
