The Save/Open window no longer appears during downloads. It used to do it all the time. I've been using the same website for months and all of a sudden the downloads open a Save File As folder and the option to Open the download no longer appears. I tried almost all the settings on my Mac and within Firefox but cannot find a solution.

None of the standard Troubleshooting Tech Support suggestions work.

Please help !

Hello Matt,

Thank you for your reply.

There was no "tools > options > applications" location. However, since this is a Mac, I was able to get into the Applications Preferences using the "cmd+," then select the Applications tab. Yes, then changed the Action for the Content Type to "Always Ask".

That worked!

Thanks again, your response got me to the solution.

Hi vcareri,

Have you gone to tools > options > applications to see what you have told Firefox to do with that file type? If it is a specific type of file, you'll want Firefox to ask you what to do with it instead of just downloading it. You can find more information in the Applications panel - Set how Firefox handles different types of files Knowledge Base article.

If you change the setting to Always Ask and it still doesn't work you should look at the article How to fix preferences that won't save. Firefox might be having issues saving your preferences.

Hopefully this helps!
