I cannot stop Firefox to remember usernames because the "Key" icon does not show to the left of the URL area. How can I stop Firefox to remember usernames?
Right now, Firefox REMEMBERS usernames in all websites. I want to DISABLE this feature. The instructions I found in Firefox help include clicking on a "KEY" icon that should appear to the left of the URL area. However, in my version of Firefox that KEY does not show. So, I cannot follow the instructions. Is there another way to STOP Firefox from remembering usernames in websites?

If Firefox only remembers the user name automatically and doesn't offer to save the password then it is most likely that Firefox is saving form data.
- Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember search and form history"
Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop down list:
- Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
- Highlight an entry in the drop down list
- Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.
Many thanks, cor-el! I followed the three steps you suggested, and it worked... but for one time only. What I mean is that I could remove the username at first, but after I entered the username and password again, logged in and then logged out from a website, the username that had been removed from the drop down list was back there again.
But I did find a solution: I went to Tools > Options > Privacy > History: I selected "Use custom settings for history" and then unchecked "Remember search and form history". This removed the username information.
thanks again!
