Sorry, the first screenshot posted is not available.

Sorry about that, edited it so the parentheses that follows is no longer part of the URL.

Oops! I forgot that this feature was built-in. Sorry.

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

FirefoxSafeMode

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

Please report back soon.

It's a built in feature of Mac OS X that allows applications or even scripts to export their actions to other applications via the menu bar or via a context sensitive right click menu.

Has this feature ever worked on Firefox before?

Replying now from safe mode and it hasn't changed. Doesn't seem to be an add on issue.

I'm sorry, but I think that Firefox has its own context menu that replaces all built-in ones from the operating system.
I'll do some additional research tomorrow.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Has this always been an issue or has it just recently started to occur?

I've never needed anything from the Services menu in Firefox before so I have never payed attention.

Yes I think that's what's causing all this.

Thank you for your time.

Sorry that your problem can't be fixed.
We hope that this does cause any inconvenience to you.
Thank you for using the Mozilla support forum. We hope that you will continue to browse using Mozilla Firefox.

Any chance this can be solved in the future or would it require a radical redesign of Firefox?

I'm sorry, but I'm not with the Firefox development team, nor do I have any knowledge about plans for future Firefox versions.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

Done, thank you for help regardless.

Glad to be of assistance.

This is still a problem in Firefox Aurora 28a2.

Offering a right-click services menu in OSX is standard and firefox should follow that standard. Is it very hard to implement this?

@rats
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
