download arrow
I`m on Windows XP-Firefox 26. When i download anything, an arrow goes across the screen to the top right. (. Now, lately, when i open Firefox the arrow still goes across even though i`m not downloading.

Well, i stumbled across that little arrow at top right of Firefox just to the left of the little house, opened it and found 2 of my downloads were still there and running. So, i immediately took the option to cancel them and now all is well, the arrow problem fixed.

I've seen two other reports of this, but don't know what causes it.
You can disable this notification by toggling the browser.download.animateNotifications to false on the about:config page.
You can open the about:config page via the location bar.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Oh, maybe they were resumed from a previous session? If it happens every time you restart Firefox, perhaps you have a page open that pushes a download (a lot of sites do that, show a success page while the server is preparing the push a download).
You can also check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Rename (or delete) the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Multiple_profile_files_created
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).
