Thunderbird mailing list cuts off some addresses

I have a relatively small mailing list of 13 addressees in my address book. When used in an e-mail, only the first 7 or 10 (different attempts produced different results with same list) addressees on the list get listed in the To: - area of the sent message. I broke the list into two halves and was able to send an e-mail to all 13 people that way so it is not an e-mail provider issue.

The way Thunderbird does not show an expanded list of addressees from a list until after a message is sent makes troubleshooting the problem far more bothersome to my recipients.

Problem was the extraneous quotation mark in one address on the list. Sent e-mail addresses stopped there.

Case closed as far as I am concerned. Thanks for everyone's help.

H_Smith, this article contains some tips and tricks for using mailing lists with Thunderbird. Did you already have a look there? One of the add-ons might help you out.

Please let me know if that is helpful or if these don't resolve the issue.

Thanks for the link. I had run across it before posting but it did not answer my problem.

However, I think I may have found a possible cause to my problem. The list was cutting off at a particular addressee which I attributed to some limit in the number of addressees allowed. Closer examination revealed the address had an extraneous quotation mark and I suspect the address list 'parser' was fooled and ground to a halt at this point. I've corrected this address and will be able to see whether the problem is solved the next time I use the list which will be in a week. Because TB does not allow expanding lists before sending, I can't test without bothering my addressees - something I would prefer not to do any more than I have already. I will update with my results (assuming I will figure out how to do that!).

PopMailListRecipients can expand lists before sending, but that may not mimic the way you usually send a message. It's very well possible that you found the solution now you corrected that e-mail address.

Sander G I really appreciate your efforts to provide me help. I had already discovered and installed PopMailListRecipients and have done some checks that make me hopeful I have got it licked. But until I test it for real ...

Thanks again.

P.S. - I should be updating around Wednesday evening.

Your assumption will be correct... the address parser your referring to though will be your mail providers. Thunderbird only checks it is XXXX@Somewhere. Extraneous spaces before or after an address can also be problematic.
