Why does Firefox crash every time I try to print?
I am running Firefox 31.0 on a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.7.5. I was having issues with mysterious add-ons that added new buttons to the toolbar on both Firefox and Safari. I un-installed Firefox and the Firefox settings folder, then re-installed Firefox from an earlier version (18.0) which automatically updates to the latest version.
Every time I try to print any page on any website, the Print dialog box appears but Firefox crashes as soon as I click the "Print" (OK) or "Cancel" button.
I have tried running Firefox in Safe Mode, but the problem recurs. I tried resetting Firefox, but the problem recurs. I tried resetting Firefox's print settings, but there were no "print_printer" or "print.print_printer" settings in about:config and no lines beginning with "print_" in the prefs.js file. I un-installed and re-installed Firefox after deleting the Firefox settings folder, and still the problem recurs.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to Troubleshoot the issue and to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
I run Firefox in Safe Mode: the problem recurs. bp-7c511a21-b221-4fbf-8a6e-a102a2140617 18 Jun 2014 09:03

I'm using the default theme and have avoided changing any settings since the last re-install.
Halp!
Try to check for corrupted and duplicate fonts and other font issues:

First, update your Shockwave Flash.http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
I ran the Font Book validator and removed duplicate fonts. There were no corrupted fonts detected. Restarted Firefox, attempted to print, crashed. bp-f020b148-c596-4a64-89e2-b349b2140618 18 Jun 2014 12:05
I already updated Shockwave Flash in response to the earlier comment. It is disabled, as are all plug-ins and add-ons. Still crashing.

I have also tried re-installing the printer, to no avail.

Try starting the Computer in safe mode with network
How do I start in "Safe Mode" on a Mac?
Also, the printer is on a network, so disabling network connections will not allow the printer to work, although it would be interesting to see if Firefox crashes anyway in making the attempt.
FYI, the crash also occurs when I am not connected to the network that has the printer.
How do I start in "Safe Mode" on a Mac?
I don't know. Check your user manual.
"Safe Mode" did not work. It appears to start-up in Safe Mode and restart instantly in normal mode. The computer has an encrypted drive which requires a login immediately on turning up before the startup process continues and then the desktop loads. In this case, I needed to login with my password, then hold down shift to force the Safe Mode startup process, then had to login with my password again, and the desktop starts with a translucent menu bar indicating that it was not in Safe Mode. Attempting to print or even opening the Print option and then selecting "Cancel" still causes Firefox to crash.

Any other ideas?

Anyone?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Creating a profile:
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem
Profile Backup and Restore
I followed those steps to create a new profile. Tried to print this page. Crash!

Sorry, FredMcD, I'm not sure what to do with that information.
I just started having the same problem. Have you come up with an answer?
Afraid not. As it happens, I no longer have that computer so I'm no longer suffering as a result, but I don't have any solutions. Sorry! Best of luck!
