Month ago the HDD crashed. I recovered Thunderbird and all worked fine. I keep that copy. Days ago I was receiving duplicate emails. I made a new backup and created a new profile; then I copied/pasted the backup to the roaming folder (previously existing location); everythink worked fine. Yesterday I left seeing Local Folders. I tried to recover the old and the new profile without success. The program Thunderbird Recovery reads the Local Folders and the thousands of emails (though I do not see any at the right windows panel-I don't know if this is because I did not register (bought). If I try to change the Local Directory path, whether it is with one or the another profile, a pop-up message tells me that TH is already using that location. Many thanks and forgive my english.

I have no idea what Thunderbird recovery is, but malware or ransomware springs to mind.

you do not need a program to restore a profile.
