I have Windows 7 desktop and Firefox Browser

How to eliminate the animated little animal toy that's to the left of the Search Window on Firefox Browser? It affects my sight and it drives me crazy too! I'm sorry that NONE of the answers suggested fit my question. I can send you a screenshot if necessary. Thanks so much!

Or, if you primarily use your home page to search, you can make your favorite search site your home page. These articles describe the options for that:

Thank you very much the-edmeister, but I prefer not to have to download programs if I can avoid it.  :o)

By chance I clicked on the Default button and lo and behold the little animations stopped! However...

......I just noticed that when I open Firefox, instead of showing the usual home page with the search window, etc., it shows the last website I was using! And only when I click on a 2nd Firefox button it does show the normal page.

If you happen to know why and how to fix I'd appreciate it a lot!

Thanks again so much! Adela

If you prefer not to see snippets on the about:home page then you can set the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref to an empty string on the about:config page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Delete the storage\persistent\moz-safe-about+home folder in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Exit/Quit) to remove snippets stored in IndexedDB and make Firefox use a default snippet set.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
