Firefox says "This connection is unsecure" even though I know it is (the website is Facebook/cityville from Zynga)

I am trying to access the Cityville facebook game on firefox. It says the connection is unsecure, which is crap. Zynga is not a hotbed of criminal hacking, last time I checked. Even more annoying, there's no option to ignore that warning, only the Get Me Out Of Here button. This makes me not want to use firefox at all. Getting really sick of this as this is not the first time this has happened.

Please ensure that your computer's time is set correctly and that your timezone is correct. This can stop Firefox from connecting properly.

Everything is set properly. I can connect to facebook okay, but Zynga games don't want to work. I have the latest edition of Firefox, and all my drivers and Java are up to date.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu, choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Firefox is set to never remember history, and it tells websites that I do not want to be tracked. The Clear Recent History option is grayed out, so I can't access the Time Range dialogue box or anything else.

Didn't work. This is what it says under Technical Details:

fb-zc2.cityville.zynga.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

Hello twowolvers80,

The reason for the SSL certificate issue was because the site doesn't properly implement a certificate chain that links their certificate issued from a intermediary instance to the root certificate authority trusted by the browser. You can take a look at this SSL checker.

There were few similar posts in the past with users having a similar issue as yours. This post is one of them.

Hope that helps

Okay...generating one of the intermediary certificates is way out of my league, though. I couldn't even master SQL. lol Isn't there a site that has these intermediary certificates for downloading, pre-made? I'm not all that savvy when it comes to this type of thing.

I have no idea how to generate a CSR for Apache using OpenSSL to request a security certificate from digicert. That is way beyond my expertise...
