I updated Firefox to 37.0.1 and often when I close it there is a message saying it crashed, but it is not true.

As said above, after updating to 37.0.1, Firefox is OK but when I close it sometime (not always) a message says it crashed, but it never actually crashed. Thanks & best regards Silvano Arienti Milano Italy

Use "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the Report ID of recent crash reports on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page (about:support).

  • Click the "All Crash Reports" button on this page to open the about:crashes page and see all crash reports.

If necessary then you can open about: pages via the location/address bar.

I have this problem too, with ver 37.01. Why does clicking the X to close firefox cause this? It is very annoying to get the message that firefox has crashed and do i want to submit a crash report. Is there a solution other than going to file, exit. I will try this and see what happens.

This problem occurs on both my Vista home premium and my win 8.1 computers. I believe that this is a firefox problem as it did not occur until I updated to firefox 37.01.

When you click the close X then Firefox tries to close the current window. This is different than using other ways (power button in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list and File > Exit/Quit) to close the Firefox application with all open windows.

Thanks for the info, but, the problem still exists when clicking the red X. If I have multiple windows open it asks me if I want to close all. I say yes and they all close. if all of the windows are closed why does it say firefox stopped working? Like Silvano says it does not happen all of the time, but, it is still annoying.

No matter I close firefox on linux or android, with X ( file-Quit) or exit on android, every second time firefox crashes. Nothing helped. How many times I've sent report using firefox crash option, but still nothing is helping.

As of today the problem still exits. Hope this problem is fixed by the next update. I close firefox and after it is closed I get a message that it has crashed and it will report the problem when firefox starts again. this is a problem that started with 37.01

The so-called chosen solution is more like a work around. There is still something wrong when the X on the upper right is selected to closed firefox.

Exactly the same problem since 37.0.1 update. Close Firefox and crash message comes up after closure. Very intermittent. All otherwise fine for me.

I am new to this having just registered. I have posted my contribution yet it tells me above this thread that I am currently working on this when I am not and I have no idea how to get rid of it.o idea how to get rid of it. It is even there at present when I log off.

Updated to 37.0.2 and the problem is still there. Close Firefox and still get the crash report????

Is it maybe possible that outdated linux version of adobe flash player caused this problem? Because whenever I open some "complicated" and demanding sites with full of flash in it, firefox after such sites, refuse to close properly and crashes. I am personally, using puppy linux slacko 5.5.

I use Win 8.1 on one computer and Win Vista on the other. My adobe Flash player is up to date. The problem occurs on both from time to time.

After updating to 37.0.2 the problem still remains. I use Win 8.1

I must add that the same problem persists also closing Firefox with "File Exit"

Wonder if firefox is even looking at this problem? Have not heard from the moderators lately, either?

Thanks marv6, I can't figure out what could be the cause than. I would like to be because of adobe, because I am sick of adobe monopoly, but than it's something probably in firefox itself.

I agree with you. adobe sometimes crashes(has been doing this as long as I can remember). But, i think it is another problem with firefox. This was not happening before 37.0.1

Any thing from firefox on this problem. It is happening very day even when I exit using file exit instead of clicking the white X in the little red box in the upper right.

Hi marv6, it would be better to discuss in a new thread because this one already is marked as being solved.
