I want tiles. I had tiles on FireFox on my old computer. I just got a new computer. I have tried to add the tiles this way: 1. type about:config in address bar 2. Promise to be careful 3. type newtab in the Filter box 4. browser.newtab.url I type 'about:newtab' 5. I make sure the Value is 'true' in the browser.newtabpage.enabled

Ok, fine. When I go to new page, it works!!!! If I close firefox and come back I have to do the whole damn thing over. Is there a way to make it 'stick'????

You need to delete the user.js file or at least remove the line that sets browser.newtab.url to an empty string. The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

You can delete the user.js file if you didn't create this file yourself.

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Hello, I went to the user.js in preferences. It said 'browsed newtab URL, ""' Nothing listed should I put the URL to Mozilla tiles as listed in the about:config file?

In the pref.js file, it had a couple listings for newtab, I was not sure how to use this to make my changes stay after closing and reopening browser. Also the about:config-newtab page had about 8 items listed, the js file just had two listings. So I guess, my questions is, I found the pref files now what???

Thanks for you help!!!!
