My son sent me emails which I did not receive in Thunderbird. I looked on the server and there they were. Why were these messages not downloaded with all the others?

I would hazxard a guess you have POP.

POP mail only downloads the inbox. In Thunderbird right clcik the account in the folder pane and select settings. Click on the server settings for the account The first thing under the heading is the account type.

On the server they are in a sub folder of Inbox. I have moved them to the main inbox on the server. Hopefully, they might now be picked up?

I don't know whether I have IMAP or POP. How do I find that out? What difference does it make?

Thank you.
