firefox browser showing different speed than Task Manager

more options

Hi,

I am using firefox ver 41.0.1 on windows 10. I am using 3Mbps broadband. When i am downloading something in firefox browser, it is showing about 350 KB/s speed. But when i am checking it from task Manager -->performance -->ethernet. i found that it is showing 3Mbps. i have no other download is going on. when i am pausing the download in firefox, speed is decreased to 0Kbps in task manager. that means there is no other utilization going on, only firefox download.

I want to know why it is showing 350 Kbps instead of 384 Kbps

My PC Details. Hardware : Processor : Intel dual core 3 Ghz E5700 RAM : 2GB HDD ; 500 GB Seagate

Operating System : Windows 10

You may want to check for other background processes that are using the internet connection.

That is likely the difference between kilobits per second and kilobytes per second that causes a 10 times lower speed 3 Megabits per second is about 350 Kilobytes per seconds.

What i know is 1Megabit=128 KiloBytes. i think 8 times lower. but its showing more or less 10 times slower.

Maybe it's overhead?? Every packet has layers of metadata for error checking and addressing that your ISP counts but which are not part of the actual download.
