I have an email account that worked fine. Then I moved to another hosting company, set up the email accounts in cPanel and can receive but not send. The smtp server has exactly the same settings as below.

On another computer I changed the smtp details and all work, send and receive.

So it is 1 pc.

I deleted Thunderbird, renamed the profile, re-installed Thunderbird, but could go no further as it was looking for the old profile.

I hope somebody has a solution, my new hosting company and I have exhausted all ideas.

Regards Drachsi

There's a troubleshooting guide here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cannot_send_mail Judging from postings in this forum, add-ons and virus scanners appear to be the most common culprits, so you may want to check those first.

Hi,

Found it. At the bottom of the account settings page there is a box that shows which smtp is in use. when I changed it to smtpname - mail.website.net it worked.

This is not the same as selecting the SMTP server at the bottom of the "Outgoing Server"
