how do I set scam detection to recognize known senders are not scams?
After reading up on the functionality of Thunderbird's scam detection, I see that the answer to my posted question is "you can't". My followup question is, could there be? For whatever reason, there are a number of regular emails I receive that always get flagged as possible scams. I don't want to shut off scam detection, but I also don't want to have to tell Thunderbird that they're not scams every time I receive one. Shouldn't there be a way to tell Thunderbird, once and for all, that all email from a particular address is not a scam (even though it thinks it is) after I okay it?

I assume this is what you've read? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Controls So I'm just checking that you noted point 8 under the heading 'Activating the Controls' -- the use of address 'whitelists' and the option to set up a filter that determines the message status before the junk controls operate?
No, I read here, because I was looking to control scam detection, not junk mail detection: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbirds-scam-detection#w_why-does-thunderbird-tell-me-that-a-legitimate-message-is-a-scam
Are you saying that the whitelist for junk mail will apply to both? Because the above link seems to imply otherwise. I will give it a shot though.
My mistake, I didn't read your post carefully enough. Apologies!
Not a problem - thanks for replying!
So according to this:
See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1010048
(thanks christ1) the answer still seems to be "you can't", but hopeful that the problem is being addressed (as stated at the end: "I hear rumours that the Address Book is being revamped and hopefully both the scam identification and the possibility to whitelist by domain will be included as part of the improvements."). Any idea if progress has been made in that department?
