Why does the Todoist add-on keep crashing Firefox when I try to use it?

more options

I've been using the Todoist add-on for Firefox for several months now with no problems.

I haven't installed anything new or changed anything recently, yet beginning yesterday afternoon, whenever I click on the button to bring up the Todoist add-on, Firefox will crash.

I've been in contact with the developers and we've tried working through several things, but nothing has worked. They're telling me now that their add-on should not have the capacity to crash the entire browser, and that the problem must be on the Firefox side of things.

I've checked the Firefox is up-to-date (v. 45.0.1), refreshed it, uninstalled and re-installed it, and restarted my computer. I've also uninstalled and re-installed the Todoist add-on itself, as well as all of my other add-ons (Skype, LastPass, Hootsuite, and Evernote). Still, the problem is there, and nothing else at all is malfunctioning.

Any ideas?

You will have to contact the developer of the extension in case of problems with his extension. Disable the extension for now and wait until the developer releases an update to address these issues.

Note that there are more reviews that indicate a problem. Todoist: To-Do list and Task Manager

Hi Cor-el, I have already contacted Todoist re: the issue.

After a lengthy round of emails to try and fix the problem, the support team stated this:

"According to our developers, it's most likely a Firefox issue as our app is technically not capable of crashing the entire browser and we have not changed anything in it recently. Hopefully, they will address it in one of the upcoming updates."

Might help if you provided us with some some Crash Report ID's so that we can see exactly what is triggering those crashes.

Please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Looks like updating to Firefox beta solves the problem. Let me know if there's any more information I can provide re: why it won't work in regular Firefox.

Thank you all for your help! You are lifesavers - I can't do anything without my list!
