thanks, could you try to enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server: - right-click and reset that entry to the default value.

in addition, please also run a scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner...

Ok ive reset to its default value and i recently ran malwarebytes to see and no threats came back.

Did Firefox restart during that interval and complete a pending update? Or is it reporting different things at different times -- which would be very unexpected?

I manually downloaded the update and yes it did restart.

Seems firefox pushed out another update yet still It claims "up to date"...

does it make a difference if you refresh firefox?
