How do I get my bookmarks toolbar to appear at the top of the screen, and the rest of my bookmarks on the side of my screen like it used to be?

Some of the solutions say to go to the "menu" button and go to "customize". But my menu button doesn't have a customize button. I have a Mac - os X

The bar that appears under your main "navigation" toolbar is called the Bookmarks Toolbar. You can open that using either:

  • the View menu, Toolbars list
  • right-click (or Ctrl+click) the "+" button on the tab bar (or a blank section of the tab bar) to show the Toolbars list

The bar on the left side is called the Bookmarks Sidebar. You can open that using either

  • the View menu, Sidebars list
  • the keyboard shortcut:
    • Mac: Command+b
    • Windows: Ctrl+b

Note: some sites may intercept those combinations for purposes of bolding text, etc., but it should work on this site.

Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar. Look for Show / Hide Toolbars at the bottom left.

There is also a Restore Defaults button at the bottom middle.

Oh, and that "menu button" is usually found at the right end of the main navigation toolbar and has a design of 3 horizontal bars. Some people call it the "hamburger" button.
