Updated to the most recent version of firefox (running 49.0.1) after i got a notification saying there was a new version available. Today i went to a website that i had my password saved for, but it wasn't showing up when i tried to log in. Went to my saved passwords and all of my old logins + passwords are gone, only have what i've saved since the update . I went through a few of the 'lost saved password' questions and have tried to restore previous versions of logins.json (i also noticed a corrupt logins.json file in my profile), I also tried to make a new profile and copy over logins, i booted in safe mode etc but nothing is working. Is there anything I can do to get my passwords back?!

I've called for more help.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.
