Under 'View' and then 'Toolbars' I was expecting to find a Formatting Toolbar but there isn't one there. How else can I get one?

I don't have the Formatting Toolbar (to change font size, underline things etc.) and so went into the Toolbar menu under View just in case I had un-selected it. However there isn't even the option there to select one.

The Formatting Bar is under View/Toolbars in the Write window only for HTML-format messages. Check your setting under Tools/Account Settings/accountname/Composition & Addressing. If the default is plain text, launch an HTML-format message by holding Shift when you click Write or Reply.
