Opening links in new tabs doesn't always display full page

Clicking a link that opens in a new tab on pinterest results in the page not fully loading. It doesn't matter if the new tab is from middle or right clicking. If the same link is opened in the current tab, the page loads fine. In the 2 attached images, the first is from a new tab, the second is from the same tab.

Also, in a related tab issue, unless I force a new tab with right clicking, no links on pinterest will open in a new tab using the middle click, Middle click is totally ignored on that site. It works okay on other sites but not on pinterest.

Both of these tab issues happen with or without safe mode. (I had to enable the add-ons to post the question since my account information is coming from LastPass.)

No other browsers seem to have this issue when I use them on my PC. At work, on a totally different windows 7 machine, I have the same problems with Firefox.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the cache:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Thanks , but this happens in Safe mode and I'm using the default theme. Also, I've cleared all cookies for the site before starting the browser (using CCleaner). The problem surfaces as soon as I navigate to the site.

If I refresh the incomplete page on the new tab, I do get a complete page. If I open that URL again in another new tab, I will then get the complete page for that URL in any other new tab for the browser session, However, any URL that has not been refreshed will still display an incomplete page in other new tabs.

If I close the browser and reopen without clearing cookies & cache, the browser picks up where it left off. The previously refreshed pages will display in full in new tabs and other pages will be incomplete in new tabs.

The middle click being ignored continues to happen regardless of refresh.

This problem has not gone away. I find that the only way to see the actual images on sties like Pinterest is to right-click & open the link in a new private window. Since Pinterest needs a new login in a private window, as soon as I login (and the tab is no longer a "new" window), the images disappear.

This is obviously a FF issue with the containers. I have moved on to Chrome for most of my browsing since FF doesn't seem to care about resolving this issue.
