When I add a new tab, I frequently get a PURPLE page regarding Private Browsing. There is no way to continue past that page. I'm fine with having Private Browsing turned on. If this is just an "informational" page, please add a "continue" button or similar. I do know that I can open a brand new instance of Firefox, but it doesn't seem that it should be necessary.

Hello Norman9! When opening a Private Tab, you can start typing a search or a website right away without having to click anything. If I understood your problem wrong, please get back to me. But if this helped you in any way, please mark this post as solved!
