Control+T only works 50% of the time, the other 50% a new tab will show up in the bar, but it is totally useless, clicking it does nothing, and when using control+pgup/dwn it will just show the previous tab until I get past the broken tab. The only way to close the browser after this happens is go to the menu, and press quit, the 'X' in the corner does nothing. I have been having this problem for atleast the past 5 versions, if not more, even on a clean profile/install with no addons, on multiple computers.

Hello piercedfreak,

This may or may not have anything to do with it, but your system details show that you need to update your Adobe Flash Player - you're running an old version, which can cause problems. Would you please uninstall your current version and install the latest version, which is 31.0.0.122

Uninstaller : https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Note : some 'extras' may be offered in the download.

You are using an old Firefox version; probably because you have the Java plugin installed (?)

You could use the portable Firefox 52.9.0 ESR as it will not interfere with your Firefox release version and Profiles (assuming you will be using a supported Windows version and the latest Firefox version, which is 63.0).

And use it only on those sites that require Java.

I have updated the Flash player, and will see how that goes. I run a up to date version of Firefox on my desktop with the same issue, though it has most of the same addons, but since the problem exist on a fresh install with no addons, I am at a loss.

If the problem persists, then let's try Firefox in Safe Mode :

If Firefox is not running : Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running : 3-bar menu => ' ? ' (at the bottom of the dropdown) => 'Restart with Add-ons disabled'.

Then OK the restart. A small dialog should appear. Click 'Start in Safe Mode' ( not 'Refresh' !)

See : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Firefox's Safe Mode disables: - extensions - hardware acceleration of graphics - JavaScript compilers - userChrome.css/userContent.css customization files (usually wouldn't affect performance but could affect layout
