PDF's won't open in a new tab

If I click on a link to a document (generally pdf's) I can see the tab shade to show that its processing the request, but a new tab never opens. Essentially I have no way of looking at web based pdf's with firefox right now. I use a MacBook Air.

Is "Preview in Firefox" still selected for PDF if you check this in "Options/Preferences -> General > Applications" ?
