I installed Firefox in US English, and selected US English as the Chosen Language preference in Options. I also updated my English (US) Language Pack. However, the three-bar menu, the Tool Bars, Customize, etc. all show in Japanese. Looking at Troubleshooting, I see under Internationalization & Localization that Application Settings Requested Locales ["en-US","ja"] Available Locales ["en-US"] App Locales ["en-US"] Regional Preferences ["en-US"] Default Locale "en-US" Operating System System Locales ["ja-JP"] Regional Preferences ["ja-JP"]

I have a Japanese computer and switch between languages for work; however, I prefer to use only English for Firefox as it's my stronger language and I feel more comfortable when I'm 100% sure I know what I'm saying "Accept" to. Is there any way to make the menus use my Chosen Language and not the Operating System Language?

If you have the English language pack then you likely have the Japanese Firefox version. You can remove this language pack and install the en-US Firefox version.

You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (67.0) in all languages and all operating systems here:

Try to set the intl.locale.requested pref on the about:config page to "en-US". If this pref doesn't exist then create a new String pref via the right-click context menu.

  • intl.locale.requested = "en_US"

Thank you! I changed it from en-US,ja to en-US and restarted Firefox, however that unfortunately didn't solve the problem.

Are there any languages installed under "Add-ons -> Languages" ?

That's done it! I had previously installed 67.0 from that page, but there's a new version 67.0.1 which has me operating in English now. Thank you!
