thunderbird only stops sending emails randomly...
Hello, For some unknown reason, I am unable to send emails from Thunderbird. I have tried to update the application and the associated add-ons, but nothing helps. I have also tried everything mentioned except resetting my password https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages#w_more-resources.
The only thing that works is to restart the application. It works for sometime and then stops randomly. Only sending emails in affected and not receiving them.
I have attached troubleshooting Information, in case it helps. Best, Joy

Check if you have your Smtp connection correct or if it is filled in correctly.
When restarting it does it may be that an incorrect field has been entered somewhere.
are there any other issues that arise when I may ask?
too full inbox? stuff like that? pop up window that pop up with messages?

Hello, Thanks for your response. All my email accounts have plenty of space left and no issues with pop-op. I don't have any problem receiving emails.
I had tried pretty much tried all of the suggested stuff in the links but it doesn't seem to help. Also, I don't get an error code, which is also strange.
To get the client to send emails again, I need to restart the client and that fixes it for a while. After sometime, the client stops sending emails. This is the case for 3 different email providers.

is there an error message that goes with this inability to send?
Does it only affect new mail when you click Write, or only replies or forwards for instance?
Nope, no error. Nothing really happens.
It seems to affect all.
I can however save the message as draft from any of the email account and then send it from my phone
Ok I will ask this another way. How do you know it is not sending the email out?
You click send and what happens? Is send disabled (greyed)?
Sorry for not being clear. I tried emailing to my own accounts. I can do it from my phone but only sometimes from my thunderbird application.
When I click send, the spell-check window pops up and then its stays as is, even when I click send. Only sometimes, it actually sends the email
Not sure why, but if I turn off spell check, i can just send emails fine.
Tools > Options > Composition > Spelling tab OR Menu icon > Options >Options > Composition > Spelling tab Select the options:
Turn off/uncheck : Check spelling before sending
PS: I have not tested it rigorously to be certain if the issue is fixed, but for now it seems to work

After testing it for several hours, seems like it didn't fix it completely. Now, It does send the email but sometimes fail to save a copy in the sent item/folder.
I am not sure what really is happening
