I deleted a lot of emails today and after that thunderbird is not downloading any emails at all, the wheel is spinning but getting nothing and no errors, I can access new emails on my phone and on the web, but nothing is downloading on my PC, checked settings and cant really find anything wrong?!

Are you using ESET security/AV ?

Specifically, according to their forums, you should temporarily disable SSL until they solve the problem per https://support.eset.com/en/kb3126-disable-ssl-filtering-in-eset-windows-products?ref=esf - the problem is being reported by dozens of users https://forum.eset.com/topic/26517-problems-with-thunderbird-and-imaps/ https://forum.eset.com/discover/

Last night I tried to click repair inbox , and that just wiped everything that was there, so now its just an empty box. Tried to disable SSL, only difference that made is im getting a caption "connection to IMAP server timed out". I tried to move 1 email to my Spam folder and one to my Deleted folder. both are marked with a (1) after the folder ... opening it, and there is nothing to see inside the folders! Deleted the latest version of Thunderbird and installed the previous version, made no difference either. the whole Thunderbird has just become possessed! so its a case of just using a Gmail app or putting outlook on my system.
