Proton tabs
With Firefox 91, I can no longer disable the hideous Proton changes to tabs. Separating tabs from their content is a really poor user interface decision. It makes it harder to tell which tab is the current tab. With Proton, the active tab is slightly brighter than the inactive tabs. For older folks and color blind folks, this makes it all but impossible to to tell which tab is active.
If you won't come to your senses and revert this bad user interface decision, then at least add an official option to disable it and go back to the old tab style that other browsers use. If you won't do that, then I will just have to use a different browser. Which makes me very sad, because aside from your bad sense in user interface design, I loved Firefox.

Hi
The configuration preferance that you changed was due to be removed in this update and was only in place in Firefox 89 for testing purposes.
This reply does not address my post.
I mentioned that in Firefox 91 that option was removed. But my post is about how Proton has changed tabs to begin with. It makes it harder to tell which tab is active, since the difference is subtle and hard to see if you're older or color blind.
I don't care if that's on the road map. The road map needs to change.
You can install a higher contrast theme from https://addons.mozilla.org/ which may help - there are many to choose from there.
That won't attach the tab to the content, which is what I really want.
It is not possible to do that at the present time, but this may be something that we look at again in a future update.
I won't use Firefox again until you do. Too many problems. The tabs. On iPad OS you can't even close the tabs by tapping the x (I've already submitted on that). My saved credit card info never pops up when I'm making a purchase any more. It's just really makes me sad. I really liked Firefox.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I hope that you can come back and try Firefox again very soon.
Mozilla DEVS ARE NOT LISTENING! We as end-users, consumers of Mozilla Firefox DO NOT WANT THIS look/feel especially on the tabs. The tabs become indistinguishable from each other and the active tabs gets lost. We HATE this new nonsense, @devs!

Moin,
the tabs are just flying buttons now. So they don't show where they belong to anymore. But if I look at the tabs-design of Chrome, I could just agree. Someone has made deep thoughts about it. It's natural, it feels to be right.
At what level are we at Firefox? Why is the design not simply configurable? Why a less simple possibility in about:config has been removed?
Some things are already perfect and haven't to be changed on a whim.

My browser-history is Netscape Navigator, Seamonkey, Firefox and I ignored IE, Chrome and Opera, if I wasn't forced to use them (i.e. Ubuntu Phone has no Firefox).

In Firefox 91+ you need to use code in userChrome.css to override changes coming with the Proton design.
I'm sick of having to add hacks to get back to a browser which is useable.
The tabs are transparent again so the writing cannot be read and there are no visible dividers. How can the developers not understand that this is poor UI design?
It's clear they don't care about their users, all they needed to do was leave the option in there and working so we could have functioning tabs instead of this horrid piece of shit 'design' (a pc is not a bloody tablet! Time to fire the fancy apple wanna-be designer who came up with this shit). After years, nay decades of support, it's actually time to switch to a different browser :(
