I got a Windows update yesterday and now gmail only downloads one email....over and over and over...now up to 100 times. I can see my gmail on my phone just not on my PC and newer emails are there as well as on webmail. When I look on webmail, that one email is not even there, but it keeps downloading every time Thunderbird looks for mail.

That sounds exactly like issues from 5 years ago with Norton infernal software. In that case turning off the email scanner worked a treat to allow mail to download because the product could not cope with a corrupt email in the queue (usually the one right after the one you get 100 times and in the server (spam folder)

Thank you, Matt! You are correct. I disabled my antivirus (not Norton) and all the emails came down. Now I just need to turn it back it on and hope for no repeats. There was also an antivirus update needed...in spite of the fact that I have it set for automatic updates. Oh well...thank you for your assistance!
