Before my desktop system crashed, Task Manager showed that there were 73 copies/instances of Firefox running. Previously Firefox would lock my system after 11 copies had been created---without my knowing it. Right now after restarting my system, there 64 copies of Firefox even though I haven't done any browsing. What can I do to stop Firefox from overwhelming my system?

You might be selected to participate is a study that has enabled Fission.

You can check whether you have this pref on the about:config page and if that is the case set its value to '1'.

  • app.normandy.startupRolloutPrefs.fission.experiment.enrollmentStatus

fission.experiment.enrollmentStatus => 1 You can also set fission.autostart = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".
