I have used T-bird successfully for many years. My office email was recently changed to an Outlook.office365.com account. I try to set it up in Thunderbird following the Article "Using Thunderbird with Microsoft Office 365" (https://www.canterbury.ac.nz/media/documents/its/Using-Thunderbird-with-O365.pdf). Everything goes fine until I get the panel from Outlook that says enter password. then I get the message "Unable to log in. Probably wrong configuration, username or password". The username and password are the same ones I use to access it via Outlook on the internet and they work fine but not through Thunderbird. The information I use in the set up is: IMAP Hostname: outlook.office365.com Port: 993 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2

Any idea what I am doing wrong here?

I think you mayneed an 'app password', one unique to your PC and different from the one used on website. I have difficulty keeping up with office365 and someone else here may have specific info, but if you do a Google search for office365 app password you will see a number of sites with info. Good luck.

Thanks David but everything I see there is for cell phones and I am using Thunderbird on my PC desk top. Also, when I try to create an Office365 app password, the only option I am given is to download an app. I am not given the option to create an app password. I can sign in to Outlook when I want to check emails but Thunderbird is just so much more convenient. I have 4 different emails set up now and it would be nice to have the Office365 one set up as well.
