Cannot connect to webpages after updating to version 7
After updating to version 7 of Firefox today I am unable to load any webpages. It is only Firefox and I have followed other steps on this site like to re-add Firefox to the list of allowed programs under my firewall settings but nothing has changed and I still cannot load any webpages.

After upgrading to a new version, some firewalls will not recognize the new version of Firefox as an allowed program. You may need to remove Firefox from your firewall's allowed programs list, then restart Firefox, go to a web site, let the firewall detect the new Firefox version, and then give your firewall the permissions needed for Firefox to access the internet.

I've already mentioned that I re-added Firefox to my firewall's list of allowed programs and nothing has changed.
Have you checked the permissions in your firewall for Firefox? Some firewalls do not set the permissions automatically.

I have and nothing seems out of the ordinary. I even disabled my firewall for a bit and ran firefox again but I had the same problem.
Any error message(s)?
You are not running more than one firewall, are you? Never run 2 firewalls or 2 active/on-access AV/AS applications at the same time.
Can other applications connect to the internet; another browser, e-mail application, etc.? With and without firewall?

No, I am only running one firewall, and it is only firefox that won't connect to the internet. I am using google chrome and internet explorer just fine as well as other programs that use internet access.
The solution that I initially offered solves the most common reason for Firefox not making a connection immediately after upgrading to a new version.
Since you have not answered the question about error messages, I must assume that you are seeing no error messages. I also must make other assumptions due to the limited information that you have posted:
- Firefox starts and appears ready to go; no error messages
- When you enter an address, nothing happens; no connection, no error messages, no message about a proxy setting
You can try running without Add-ons; Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
- If that works, it is one of your Extensions or Plugins
- See --> Troubleshooting extensions and themes
- See --> Troubleshooting plugins
- See --> Basic Troubleshooting
You can do a clean re-install. Remove Firefox using the Windows Control Panel, but do not remove your personal information (Profile) (be sure that box is un-checked on the pop-up that appears), delete the Mozilla Firefox folder from your Programs folder, then install a fresh copy; your existing Profile should be detected.

I have no further suggestions. Perhaps someone else will come along with a solution to your problem.

Did a clean re-install but I still had the same problem. Uninstalled version 7 and re-installed 6.0.2 and now it works fine, version 7 must be screwy.
I am using Firefox 7 and have been throughout this entire thread. The problem is not with Firefox 7.
In fact, since you went back to your previous version (Firefox 6.0.2) and it works, it sounds more and more like a firewall issue since your firewall most likely remembers the settings for Firefox 6.0.2.

But even with the firewall off firefox 7 still didn't let me load any webpages, so how can it be the firewall causing the issue?
Unless you have changed some system configuration, Windows automatically starts the Windows firewall when you disable your third-party firewall, so that a user is never totally without a firewall.
You still have not answered my question about "messages". Not reading the solutions carefully or not following the instructions as written or not responding directly and completely to questions asked, makes it very difficult to help a user.
- Are you getting any pop-up messages?
- Are you seeing anything in the title bar (like "Not responding")?
- etc
- etc
- etc
When you turn off your third-party firewall, go to Windows security center on your system (Windows control panel), see that the Windows firewall is activated, configure Windows firewall to allow Firefox 7 access to the internet (see Firewalls article below) and see if Firefox 7 gets out to the internet.
If that works, then the problem is with your third-party firewall configuration, so turn it back on and determine what is causing the problem. Post questions about your third-party firewall on that vendor's forum site for assistance.

I am using Windows Firewall, not a third-party one. I do not receive any error messages, the pages are just continually connecting and not loading at all. The only thing I see in the title bar is 'Connecting...'. I've already downgraded to 6.0.2 and everything is working fine again.
Endless "Connecting..." to a site is a clue. That is the reason that complete information when posting a question is important. Try #1 and #2,then try connecting with Firefox 7; if that does not help, then try #3:
- Clear Cookies & Cache
- Click Firefox button > History > Clear Recent History (using the Menu Bar, click Tools > Clear Recent History)
- "Time Range to clear" drop-down, select Everything
- Click the arrow next to "Details" to display the list of items that can be cleared.
- Select both Cookies and Cache; be sure nothing else is checked
- Click "Clear Now".
- Clear the Network Cache

Did all that when I still had version 7 installed, didn't do anything. I guess I'll just have to stick with 6.0.2 for now.
I have no more suggestions.
i found a solution i think.. i installed Fasterfox Lite.. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fasterfox-9148/ selected "optimized" from its first option page then unchecked "enabled link prefetching" from its advanced option tab.

Try the suggestions mentioned in the following article:
Check and tell if its working.

This was already suggested by SafeBrowser, it did not work.
Type about:config in the Location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key. When you see a warning, click I'll be careful, I promise! button.
-> In the Filter bar, type network.http.max-connections
- Right click the preference network.http.max-connections and choose Modify
- change the value to 30
- click OK
-> Close the about:config tab
- Restart Firefox.
Check and tell if its working.

i have the same problem. When i open many tabs, some of them has Connection... idle.. after same time, about 30sec to 60sec they connected. its not internet or firewall problem, its something in ff7, because in ff6.0.x all works fine.
