Has firefox stopped reading the windows host file?

more options

When we logout of yahoo mail we are automatically redirected to the yahoo home page. I hated this, so I had added the page address to my windows host file and set the IP to 127.0.0.1. This was working earlier atleast for firefox v11 but doesnt anymore. Is there any other way to stop the auto redirect? I use firefox 14 w/ Windows XP. Thanks!

Step1: Add line "127.0.0.1 in.yahoo.com" to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" Step2: Type "in.yahoo.com" in firefox. Expected behaviour: "Unable to connect. Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ..." Observed behaviour: The site "in.yahoo.com" opens up.

I'm not aware of any changes in this part of Firefox.

Mine exits straight to www.yahoo.com, a domain I really can't block, so I'm not sure I can replicate your situation.

What page do you want to see when you sign out of Yahoo! mail? Perhaps someone can find a "hack" so you end up there.

Oh, you did give us a test to do, sorry.

After adding this line to the hosts file:

127.0.0.1 in.yahoo.com

I get this when trying to access the site:

The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The specific message might be a Windows 7 thing, but I definitely do not get the real site.
