As I indicated above, for the past 6 years I have been listening to streaming audio radio stations on www.republicbroadcasting.org on the "listen live" page, but about 2 months ago every time that I pushed the cursor to activate the Winamp player, or any other player, and I mean EVERY time, Mozilla would crash and ask for a crash report to send to you people. The same thing happens when I try to listen to a previous radio show in their extensive archives. By using Microsoft Internet Explorer, I can at least listen to their live streaming audio shows. What gives? Why did this happen after 6 years???

I want to thank everyone who read my problem statement and posted a response for solution. I just received Mozilla Firefox information note at the bottom of my monitor screen yesterday that told me that the "free download manager" software that I had installed as part of some other download could cause Firefox to become unstable. After I used Microsoft Windows XP to uninstall this program, Firefox now works just fine. The problem that I posted above no longer exists.

Thanks again.

Just to be sure: which Firefox version are you using?

You may have a corrupted user agent that identifies you as Firefox/3.6.17

  • Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.17) Gecko/20110420 Firefox/3.6.17 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) FBSMTWB

See:

If you really use a Firefox/3.6.17 version then you should update to the latest Firefox 16.0.2 version.

It is important to update Firefox and add-ons to the latest versions to get the latest bug fixes and security updates.

Also note that the latest Flash plugin for Firefox 3.6 is Flash 10.3 and that your Flash 11.4 version is not officially supported for Firefox 3.6 (Mozilla Firefox 4.0 or later)

Hello johnfromrancho, as cor-el said above your user agent is corrupted by Fast Browser Search (FBSMTWB) and that identifies you as Firefox/3.6.17

you must reset your useragent (the link it is in cor-el's reply http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resetting_your_useragent_string_to_its_compiled-in_default )

see also the next link about Fast Browser Search (FBSMTWB in the user agent) : http://help.fastbrowsersearch.com/

thank you
