How do I get rid of the google search bar? I don't want google
My browser is set to duckduckgo.com as is the search bar on the left at the top.
When a new tab opens it has a google search bar in the middle of the page. I want Google gone.
Is there a way to get rid of it. I want nothing to do with Google.
Can you give me the instructions on how to get rid of it. I found the google.com/firefox and thought I might be able to delete it that way, but will it delete Firefox altogether?
Let me know please.

Here is how you can reset what appear on a new tab. If this setting does not stick, one of your add-ons might be overriding it.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:
- Page thumbnails (default) => about:newtab
- Blank tab => about:blank
- Built-in Firefox home page => about:home
- Any other page => full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?

In order to change the default search engine or the order of search engines in the top right search box in Firefox, please perform the following steps:
- Move the mouse cursor inside the search box at the top right of the Firefox window and click the down arrow next to the provider's logo.
- If you would like to select another search engine, simply pick the engine from the dropdown list.
In order to change the order of the search engines, do this:
- From the dropdown list, select Manage Search Engines....
- In the upcoming window, you have all your search engines listed. To change the order, simply click one search engine and then select Move up or Move down from the buttons on the right side in order to change the order of the search engines.

http://www.google.com/firefox was the old Firefox start homepage in use up till Firefox 3.6.28. As of Firefox 4.0 and the newer the default homepage has been about:home
You can change your Homepage in Firefox in Options. Changing this website to another one will not delete Firefox.
How to set the home page link.
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options Select the General panel. Then change it to whatever site you want or leave it blank for no homepage.
AjayJogawath, the problem has not be resolved as he only just asked this question as his only post.

Sorry but I know how to change the search engine and how to get rid of google, bing etc in the right hand box.
This is a new thing. When FireFox just updated, it still has duckduckgo.com in the browser bar and the search box at the top, but when a new tab opens the search box in the middle of the page is no longer duckduckgo's search box it is now Firfox/google search box. It has firefox logo and google written beside the box.
I do not want anything to do with Google, so I may have to change from FOX.
Let me know if you can think of anything else that can be done.
Thanks, Beverly
