I seem to recieve every email 2-3 times, regardless of whether I delete it or not.

I receive each email 2-3 times in rapid succession (in other words, every time Mozilla checks my server). After two or three deliveries it will stop. I have not marked the box in the server settings to leave messages on the server, so it should be deleting them after the first reception.

Thanks for your help in a harmless, but kind of annoying problem.

Your message rules in Thunderbird or at your email provider (on the server) may be creating extra copies. I'd suggest to first double-check such settings (local email rules and server email rules) first. Do you have several email aliases at the server pointing at one single address? I can think of several scenarios causing this, not all necessarily caused by Thunderbird.

If that doesn't help, also check if your email account may be configured on another system or device (mobile?), with other email software. If you change your password you can then configure the Thunderbird setup you are trying to troubleshoot and find out if it behaves normally.
