When I am trying to upload file using general upload feature in Elance.com its showing error that my flash player is not updated or not working.

But the same is working properly when I am accessing elance.com in Internet Explorer, Chrome or Opera.

That was the update for Firefox, not Java.

Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Then Help > About Firefox will tell you what version have and check for updates.

Hello,

Potentially unrelated: You are not on the latest browser as you are on 32.0.3, and even the About Dialog is telling you version 33 is available (latest version is 33.0.2).

Does flash work on other websites? Are you using antivirus software/firewall that could potentially block connections (you don't seem to be using any extensions that block javascript/ads).

You can check the site identity information to see if plugins have been disabled for those particular sites somehow:

  • Either go to:
    • Tools > Page Info
    • Click the padlock or globe icon to the left of the link in your address bar, and then click "More Information"
  • Go to the Permissions tab

Thanks for the replies.

Yes I dont think that V 33 will solve my issue since its a longterm issue for me with Firefox.

I am having this problem particularly with few websites. One of them is Elance.com.

I get this error when I try to upload files in projects message section.

Does flash work on other websites? : Absolutely fine. For this particular issue I have to use IE or chrome to upload my project files in Elance.com.

Recently I noticed the same problem in Hightail.com. When the upload button never got highlighted while opened in Mozila but worked without any problem in IE or Chrome or Opera.

Are you using antivirus software/firewall that could potentially block connections (you don't seem to be using any extensions that block javascript/ads). : Currently I have Microsoft Security Essential and Malwarebytes installed. And no third party firewall.

Also, if it was a antivirus or firewall issue why the same problem not happening with Opera or Chrome since I didnt made any special changes in them for Mozila or chrome or Opera.

As of the site permission is concerned, I have checked that and its in "Use default" selected.

Hope this helps.

Is it still with one web site?

Go to the web page. Once the page is loading, mouse to the address bar and Left click the icon. A window for displaying site information should come up. Select More Information. Now select Permissions. In the menu, find and check the plugins, make sure they are set properly.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Yes, the problem is with the same website [i.e. elance.com]. After Firefox update it worked perfectly for one time only and then the same error message appeared.

Really confusing problem

Have you tried the information I sent?

Remove History For One Site Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.

I see that you have a lot of modified preferences showing in the System Details list.

You can delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Did you click the Lego block icon on the location/address bar to make sure that the Shockwave Flash plugin is enabled on that website?

You can inspect and manage permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:

  • Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
  • Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
  • Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

You can get a possibly colored Lego block icon on the left end of the location bar that indicates that Firefox is blocking a plugin.

Ok, I have applied the "Forget about this site" option through History. Although the saved passwords didnt got removed but the normal upload feature is working.

It seems the problem resolved. I have tested elance.com for 6 times and the normal 'upload button' in private message section is staying.

Dont know how long this will go.

Will provide update in this peculiar issue.
