I had to do a new build of Win 7 x64 & a new install of T'Bird, on a new HD. (My previous version of TBird was an earlier version, but not much earlier)

I copied over all my old Thunderbird data from the old profile folder to the new profile folder.

All emails and accounts are there, present and correct.

Thunderbird won't send or receive emails as it says it can't get the password. I looked in Tools>Options>security>saved passwords and there are no passwords there.

The FAQs state that in the absence of a required password, Thunderbird will ask for it. But it doesn't. When trying to send It just says that it can't get the password. And on receiving (POP3 it just sits there, doing nothing. with no error message. It will not let me enter a master password.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Ideas not solutions.

Open the profile folder (troubleshooting information on the help menu offers that option) Close Thunderbird. (as you have copies) Delete the files. (if they exist)

signons.sqlite
signons.dat
signons3.dat

Restart Thunderbird.

Any better?

Hi Matt

Thanks for trying.

The file was present so I removed it. The other 2 weren't present. No difference, I'm afraid. There was also a file (0Kb) called: signons.sqlite.msf . I removed that too, but still no change.

Thanks anyway for the suggestions.

Regards

Steve
