I have set PDF Viewer Plus to open pdf's but Firefox asks me what application I want to use to open the document.

I have been using PDF Viwer Plus to view pdf's that I download rather viewing in Firefox. This has been working for weeks but today on downloading pdf's, there is a pop-up asking me "What should Firefox do with this file?" and I have to click on browse and select PDF Viewer Plus. I have tried creating a new profile, reinstalling Firefox making sure to delete the leftover files but it is still the same. Has anyone any idea what has happened. Windows XP SP3, Firefox 34.0.5

Can you no longer choose "always do this" from the dialog box after choosing how to treat the file? What happens if you go into Options > Applications > Portable Document Format (PDF) and choose the application?

"Always do this" is ticked. Options-Applications has PDF set as "Use PDF Viewer Plus". It is working correctly in Internet Explorer. For a long long time in Firefox on downloading pdf it has asked me what to do, even though "Always do this" is ticked, but its default was to open in PDF Viewer Plus, now it suddenly has started to ask me to select the application.

Sorry, I have no idea. Problems with PDF seem to be with Windows, and I use Mac OS, which is not having such.
