I read re: others w/ this problem. But I am nontech. Can anyone explain in common English what to do? They go away when I shut down computer + restart. But then randomly (not every day for no particular reason) and then WILL NOT go away til shut down + restart. Makes tabs hard to use. Yes, I have McAfee. Perhaps I need to call them and make THEM fix it thru screen assist as I do not have the knowledge to SAFELY remove bits of programs etc??

Hello cursulajones, the problem is mcafee site advisor extension, please try to disable or remove that extension and you are OK.

see : How to uninstall SiteAdvisor

check another option, if works for you, without to uninstall the mcafee site advisor extension :

disabled the add-on then close firefox and restart Firefox again. Then enable the add-on again, close firefox one more time and restart Firefox again. (works here :-))

thank you

I'm sure you are right and I clicked your "How to uninstall Siteadvisor" and I can tell you that is way beyond my computer abilities. So I think I will call Mcafee when I need to kill a few hours + let THEM do it!

Did you try to disable the McAfee SiteAdvisor and close and restart Firefox? After you have restarted Firefox you can re-enable the extension and check if this has helped.
