Are you using the built-in new tab page? One user reported that the built-in new tab page in its "Enhanced" mode was crashing his Firefox (Q#1057113). The workaround in that case was to assign a different new tab page. if you want to try that, here's how:

(1) Type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter your preferred page:

  • Page thumbnails (default) => about:newtab
  • Blank tab => about:blank
  • Built-in Firefox home page => about:home
  • Any other page => full URL to the page

Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Any improvement?

If not... or so we can investigate further...

When Firefox crashes, it usually records information about what was happening at that moment. You often will see the Mozilla Crash Reporter dialog come up. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the last section of the support article "Firefox Crashes" for steps to get those crash report IDs, and then post some of the recent ones here.
