I saved me bookmarks onto a hard drive. I then transported them back to fireFox, after the machine was upgraded from XP to Windows 7. That was a successful operation. The book marks resided in the show all bookmarks and the tool bar. Just the was they originally were. I then explored using the sidebar option to see how that would work for me. The problem is this: All of the book marks in the tool bar are gone and I can not get them back. Neither can I save any new bookmarks to the tool bar. I even uninstalled FireFox and re-installed. That did not help. What am I to do? Please help.

Sorry if this sounds simplistic, but just to be sure: Have you manually shown the Bookmarks toolbar (which is hidden by default in recent versions of Firefox), as described in the "Show or hide the Bookmarks toolbar" section of this article: Bookmarks Toolbar - Display your favorite websites at the top of the Firefox window
