There is a setting for this on the Options page, in the General section. To access that page, you can use either:

  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • type or paste about:preferences in the address bar and press Enter

Should be the very first checkbox in the "Startup" section.

This article has more information on the General section of the Options page: Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings.

Does that work?

I have this same Problem I use it for certain things but I have IE set as Default Browser I tell it no I don't want you to be my default browser, but every time I restart the Browser it asks again and again

I have unchecked the box in options and yet Miraculously is asks again after re opening browser

Why does this do this? and how can I stop it?

Hi jgehring

Is that box still unchecked at the next start?

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

more options

yes however the browser still asks anyways

I believe it is an issue that Firefox needs to resolve on their end as the user tells the browser what to do and yet whenever we open the browser it seems to forget that instruction

There is no Profiles folder or pref js file

If that choice doesn't last then it is possible that there is a problem with the registry keys that Firefox check to see if it is the default browser.

You can try to run Firefox once as administrator.

Ill Try that see what happens
