I send a bulk email out once every week to about 50 email addresses. I've never had any problems using Thunderbird 31.7.0. Since the updates after this version I get the error message and can't send the bulk email. I have to revert back to 31.7.0 and then everything works fine. I've tried to use every update since this version and it always gives the same error. This can't be a server issue as the older version of Thunderbird works fine.

Try to determine which address is triggering the error message. Try sending mail to each individual address, or small groups until you get the error, then check that address for extraneous characters. There may be more than one address involved.
We cannot tell what characters may cause the error until we see the actual address(es) that caused the error.
Rather than post the addresses on the forum, you should send them via 'private message' to a Forum Top Contributor whom you trust.
It is strange that the messages do not trigger an error when using TB-31.7, but do in all of the subsequent updates. This is important information to assist the developers to determine the cause.
One question: Are you using the exact same profile in TB-31.7 as you used in the most recent version?
I am trying to determine whether there has been any change in the address information, in the profile used for TB-31.7 and it has not been altered in a later profile version.

Gild: Thankyou for your reply. I am using the exact same profile for all builds. When I update to the latest version of TB the problem arises. I then reinstall 31.7 and resend the bulk email and all is good again. I even went as far as formatting my Win 8.1 Asus PC to Win 10 and reinstalled TB 38 and imported my contacts back and it still happened. I will check through my email addresses and see if I can spot anything that's not normal. I just don't understand why the same address book works with TB31.7 and yet upgrading to TB38+ causes this issue.
When they come out with a new version of Thunderbird, they often solve some old problems, but they inadvertently create new ones. It is hard to fully test out new code segments to find all the 'bugs' that may appear when run alongside older code that has previously not caused problems.
This forum, like many others, is staffed by volunteers who do not actually work for Mozilla. We are not the developers, but they know that we exist and often 'troll' the groups to get ideas on possible improvements, and solutions to existing problems. They look at the 'bug' reports and If enough people have a concern, more resources will be funneled into that area.
