You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

You can check for corrupted and duplicate fonts and other font issues:

I did stop hardware acceleration already. also for flash. All my Mac software is up to date. Have been checking for new software once an hour for the last few days.... Fonts seem ok. Some duplicates but resolved automatically. .....

more options

It still seems to be related to fonts as this call shows in the crashing thread:

  • gfxMacPlatformFontList::GetDefaultFont(gfxFontStyle const*)

Maybe try to set a different default font in the Mac settings if there is a place to specify this default font.

more options

Have changed the default font in Firefox. There is no place that i can find to set a default Mac font. Used Fontbook to check all fonts. Deleted a number of them that showed up with problems. Finally reset/reinstalled the system fonts. Firefox still crashes.

I can say only one thing: it almost always seems to happen when i switch back to Firefox from another app. Rarely also right when i hit a site. If this helps...

For some time now, a lot of Mac’s with Microsoft programs have been crashing. Check with Microsoft / Mac support sites.

Hmmm. No Microsoft SW here. Not true: Skype. But i checked and yep, there are old prefs files. All deleted. Will report back.

Deleted prefs files, anything in my computer that said 'microsoft', restarted, still crashing.... bp-0931a98b-f799-4dd1-8399-8dabe2151012
