Unable to update vulnerable plugin

more options

Firefox has identified my Silverlight plug-in 5.1.40728.0 as vulnerable and has given me an "Update Now" link.

When i click it goes here http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/get-started/install/default.aspx

It says "For Mozilla Firefox users: Save Silverlight.exe to your hard disk. Once the download is finished, click Open. The installation starts."

Where is this Silverlight.exe download? I can't see where to get it from?

thanks ....

You're right, this webpage is confusing.

The .exe file will download if you click on the blue "Silverlight 5 (5.1.40728.0)" text, near the words "current version" at the top.

However, it appears that 5.1.40728 (which you already have) is the latest version. Not sure why you're still being asked to update.

I don't see any clickable text at the top nor any text that says "current version", however clicking on "Silverlight Home Page" takes me to the download.

I download it then it fails to install because i already have the latest version - as you suggested was the case.

If you have the latest Silverlight plugin then you can ignore the plugin check page. There is a error in the plugin check database file and the latest SL version is not recognized as being up to date.

There is a newer version for Mac users only.

For some plugins, the plugin checker tracks the latest version for each OS separately, but not for Silverlight, perhaps because this is the first divergence where it has become necessary.
