I would like the emails in my inbox grouped by sender, so that all emails from a specific person is all together (like windows live mail).
Windows Live Mail allows me to group all emails in my inbox by sender. Each unique sender that has sent me an email that is still in my inbox is listed with a drop down option to see all of the emails that they have sent me.
Is it possible to organize my Thunderbird inbox in this way?

In the main menu, or in the Application Menu ([≡]):
View|Sort by|From
then
View|Sort by|Grouped by sort
That helps a ton. Now, how do I have a secondary sort that brings the most recent posts to the top?
I don't know of a way of doing a secondary sort.
I change my view quite often; I sort on subject, sender or date to bring items together. I use View|Folders|Unread to find new messages. I also have several Saved Search folders for particular contexts, including Recent and Unread.
I also have frequently used folders in tabs, courtesy of the Quick Folders add-on.
