user name/pw combos are stored for website name not url in wordpress admin login screen
This has been happening forever and I only just now got frustrated enough to ask about it. I administer a large number of wordpress sites. I have my user names and passwords stored in firefox. the *name* of the wordpress admin login page is the same for every site, but the url is different i.e. these page *names* are the same
http://www.newyorkpolyphony.com/wp-admin/ http://scwtenor.com/antioch/wp-admin/
but their *urls* are obviously different. however, firefox doesn't seem to be able to differentiate between these as different and on the login screen, in the user name field, it gives me a drop-down list of EVERY user name I've ever used for any wordpress admin login page for all the sites I administer. this means that firefox is potentially offering my login ID and password for one site as a possibility for another site. I believe that when I go to http://scwtenor.com/antioch/wp-admin/ firefox should only give me one user name and password possibility since there is only one that I use for that site.
I've attached a screen grab. Only one of the user names in that list applies to the url I've visited, but FF shows all the user names I've ever used for a page with that name (but different URL). It also shows a blank user name representing a time when I reset my password but the screen did not show a user name. That's useless unless I wanted to dig into the list of saved passwords to retrieve it.
Any thoughts on this? Is the password system in FF just not very robust? I'm looking into other pw managers but thought I'd ask about this first. Thanks all.

The Password uses the address of the current web page. You would have to record the user/password for each site.
I think a better way is to use a form filling add-on. Autofill {web link} Autofill is a small but powerful add-on that serves one purpose: fill form fields automatically on page load. It is for people who just want a straightforward form filler without all the bells and whistles. Autofill Support Site {web link}
Did you make sure that you aren't seeing saved form data entries as those aren't website dependent.
What entries do you see in the Password Manager?
You can check the entries with the Saved Password Editor extension.
thanks all. I think it's indeed the form filling that's offering a list of login IDs on pages that have the same title but different URLs. But I'm confused how that interfaces with the saved passwords--aren't those URL-dependent? and aren't the passwords associated with a login ID?
what I need is a password manager that has a unique entry for each URL despite the fact that the page itself is the same as another page at a different URL. those two URLs will have different login IDs and password combinations. I think perhaps a commercially available PW manager might be better solution.
