I have not used thunderbird for a while and am being asked for a password before being allowed to send mail. I don't remember setting a password up and don't want one but can't find out how to cancel or change password. Please help.

When you set up the account with your email provider you had to provide a password. There is no way around this. If you forgot your password check with your email provider for password recovery options. If you told Thunderbird to remember your password you can look it up there.

At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Options > Security > Passwords > Saved Passwords > Show Passwords.

The password for sending and receiving is usually the same.
